WCEC’s wetland department assists clients with interpreting and fulfilling the requirements of Section 404 of the Federal Clean Water Act and the Minnesota Wetland Conservation Act. This includes wetland delineation, wetland permit applications, wetland mitigation design, wetland construction, oversight, and monitoring, wetland banking, wetland restoration, enforcement resolution, and GPS Surveys / GIS Mapping.
Several of WCEC’s wetland delineators have completed the University of Minnesota Wetland Delineator Certification Program and several are in-training. WCEC delineators have completed additional coursework in advanced wetland delineation, wetland plant identification, wetland mitigation and banking. WCEC wetland staff are members of the Minnesota Wetland Professionals Association and complete a minimum of 12 continuing education credits annually.
WCEC works with our clients to understand their goals and assist them through the delineation and permitting process. WCEC works closely with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, state agencies, and Local Governing Units responsible for the wetland enforcement to ensure projects are completed efficiently and in a manner that will expedite project approval.
Environmental Assessment Worksheets (EAW) and Environmental Impact Statements
WCEC also completes Environmental Assessment Worksheets (EAW) and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) as part of MPCA's environmental review process. This review process is a standardized public process designed to disclose information about the potential negative environmental effects of a proposed development and ways to avoid or minimize them before the project is permitted and built.
