Tom Schmitz has joined the professional staff of WCEC’s Emergency Services Department as an Emergency Planner / Instructor.  In this position, he will coordinate and further develop WCEC’s Training and Government Services section. Tom comes to WCEC with over 20-years experience as an Emergency Medical Services Basic Life Support instructor.  Tom has been, and continues to hold the position of Emergency Management Director of Traverse County, Minnesota.  He is a Certified Minnesota Emergency Manager and will be certified as a NIMS instructor the spring of 2009.

Mr. Schmitz will be contacting counties to introduce WCEC’s Emergency Services Department and offer the various types of services associated with emergency management planning and grant management.  Tom will be working with WCEC’s instructors to provide NIMS training to State, Tribal, County, and City responders.  This training will be individually tailored toward references of local incidents for the responding agencies within the classroom.

With Tom’s experience and expertise, WCEC anticipates significant development and growth in our Emergency Services Department and Training and Government Services Section.
