Environmental HAZMAT Technician

Location: New Hope, MN

This position is responsible for performing tasks at a beginner level associated with emergency response, spill sites, and site remediation. Employee contributes to the overall company mission of providing the total quality solution to our customer.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Work safely and following the safety practices and policies of the company

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Follows the company's environmental, health, and safety policies and reports any unsafe conditions.

  • Performs emergency response activities

  • Packages and coordinates disposal of waste generated during responses

  • Maintains and decontaminates spill response equipment

  • Operates and inspects heavy and light equipment and reports any deficiencies.

  • Maintains the ability to perform required duties in level A, B, C and D PPE including supplied air as necessary.

  • Calibrates, uses, and documents meters and readings.

  • Performs heavy lifting and repetitive motions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED required from. Two (2) or Four (4) year degree from accredited college or combination of post-secondary in applicable course of study preferred. 0-1 years related experience and training preferred.

  • Specialized training and certification in hazardous materials handling or a confined entry permit are generally required.

Working Environment:

  • Travel required - (mostly regional)
  • On call spill response rotation required (every 6 weeks)
  • Weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
  • Perform during company's scheduled business hours
  • Respond to spill responses both during and after regular business hours

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds frequently
  • Stand, sit, walk, crawl, carry, bend, lift, push, pull
  • Ability to work 15 hours per day multiple days in a row

Industrial HAZMAT Driver (multiple) - WCEC Industrial Services

Location: Fridley, MN (Mpls) and Ankeny, IA (Des Moines) 

A mix of in town, regional, and overnight work employees have schedled weeknds on and off.  We will train experienced drivers for use of industry specific equipment and duties.  Great opportunities for Overtime.  Full benefits include medical, dental, vision, vacation time, sick bank, retirement, life insurance, paid holidays, and long term disability.  $28.00 per hour.  Paid hourly.

We are an environmental services company that needs multiple Industrial HAZMAT drivers to work with our clients and provide a superior customer service experience for handling their waste management needs. Valid Class A CDL, tanker and HAZMAT endorsements required.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Will drive and operate vacuum trucks, dump trucks, and tractor trailer combo

  • Will perform labor activities to assist crew during client job site activities

  • Handle, transport, off-load, and store hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste materials in appropriate storage containment.

  • Participate on rotating WCEC Emergency Response Team

Education and Experience:

  •  High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Minimum 2 years related experience driving and/or with equipment operation preferred in industrial or environmental areas

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must meet all required D.O.T. regulations 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No

Field Technician (multiple) - WCEC Industrial Services

A mix of in town, regional, and overnight work employees have schedled weeknds on and off.  We will train experienced drivers for use of industry specific equipment and duties.  Great opportunities for Overtime.  Full benefits include medical, dental, vision, vacation time, sick bank, retirement, life insurance, paid holidays, and long term disability.  This position is the gateway to a HAZMAT driving position!   $16.00-20.00 per hour depending on experience.  Paid hourly.

  • Identify, remove, pack, transport, or dispose of hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead-based paint, waste oil, fuel, transmission fluid, radioactive materials, or contaminated soil.

  • May operate earth-moving equipment or trucks.

  • Follows the company's environmental, health, and safety policies and reports any unsafe conditions.

  • Operates and inspects heavy and light equipment and reports any deficiencies.

  • Performs emergency response activities.

  • Maintains, cleans, and organizes trucks and trailers.

  • Ability to perform required duties in level A, B, C and D PPE including supplied air as necessary.

  • Calibrate, use, and document meters and readings.

  • Perform heavy lifting and repetitive motions.

  • Meets on-call requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED required from.  0-1 years related labor experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Minimum Qualifications:

  • Maintains valid health card per DOT regulations to pull combination vehicle and trailer over 10,000 lbs.

  • Specialized training and certification in hazardous materials handling or a confined entry permit are generally required.
